The Reason Behind OUR Praise: A Reflection on Psalms 100:5

Welcome to My Church's Sunday Morning Service. Sunday, we delved into the profound message of Psalms 100:5, which reads, "For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations." This verse serves as the foundation for understanding the reasons behind our praise and the enduring nature of God's goodness, mercy, and truth.

Here are Three Reasons Behind Our Praise

God's Goodness is Constant

The essence of God's goodness is unchanging. As Pastor Eric emphasized, "God never became good when life became good. God was always good at the beginning." This constancy is a reminder that if we are not experiencing God's goodness, it may be due to our own misaligned priorities rather than any change in God's nature. Pastor E

illustrated this with a story about a Christmas tree, emphasizing that the tree was good even before it was decorated, just as God is inherently good without any embellishments.

His Mercy is Continuous

God's mercy, described as "chesed" in Hebrew, signifies a loyal, covenant love that persists despite our shortcomings. Pastor Eric highlighted that this mercy is "everlasting," meaning it does not waver even when we falter. In a world quick to cancel, God's mercy chooses to embrace us, offering forgiveness and love that we do not deserve. This mercy is described as "mercy with muscle," powerful enough to overcome our failures and continue to pursue us.

His Truth Endures Continually

The truth of God is timeless, enduring through all generations. This enduring truth is a testament to God's unwavering faithfulness and reliability. Pastor Eric encouraged the congregation to reflect on their own lives, to see the "receipts" of God's goodness and truth in their personal experiences. These receipts are the evidence of God's work in our lives, even during challenging times.

Conclusion

As we conclude today's reflection, let us remember that our praise is rooted in the unchanging nature of God's goodness, the continuous flow of His mercy, and the enduring truth of His word. These are the reasons behind our praise, and they remind us that no matter the circumstances, God remains faithful and good. Let us carry this message with us, allowing it to inspire our lives and deepen our relationship with God.
