Foods to include in your diet during the Daniel Fast

LEAP PRINCIPLE #1:

LEAN IN-Choose foods that bring clarity, discipline, and focus.

All Fruits:

Fresh, frozen, dried, juiced, or canned (No added sugars or syrups)

 

AH Vegetables and Legumes:

These can be fresh, frozen, dried, juiced or canned. Beans, lentils, peas, and chickpeas. Veggie burgers allowed if they are clean and soy-based

All Whole Grains:

This includes but is not limited to whole wheat, brown rice, millet, quinoa, oats, barley, grits, whole wheat pasta, whole wheat tortillas, rice cakes and popcorn.

LEAP PRINCIPLE #2:

ELEVATE-Feed your body what strengthens your spirit.

 

All Nuts and Seeds, and Oils:

This includes but is not limited to sunflower seeds, Almonds, cashews, peanuts, sesame, olive oil, avocado oil, canola, etc. Also, all natural nut butters including peanut butter with no added sugar or oils.

 

Other:

tofu, soy products, vinegar, seasonings, salt, herbs and spices.

LEAP PRINCIPLE #3:

ALIGN-Align your appetite with God’s purpose.

Beverages You MAY Have

  • Water (still or sparkling)

  • Herbal teas

  • Black coffee or plain coffee only

  • Unsweetened green or black tea

  • (No creamers, no sugar, no flavored additives)

 

LEAP PRINCIPLE #4:

PURIFY-Remove what dulls your spiritual sensitivity.

Foods to Avoid on the Daniel Fast

All Meat Products not limited to beef, pork, poultry, and fish.

All Dairy Products not limited to milk, cheese, butter, and eggs.

All Sweeteners not limited to sugar, substitute sugar, honey, etc.

All Leavened Bread including Ezekiel Bread and baked goods with yeast.

All Refined and Processed Food Products not limited to flavorings, food additives, chemicals, white rice/flour, artificial preservatives.

All Deep Fried Foods not limited to potato chips, fries, corn chips.

All Solid Fats including shortening, margarine, lard and foods high in fat.

Beverages including but not limited to coffee, tea, carbonated beverages, energy drinks, and alcohol.

This fast is not about restriction — it’s about redirection.
We are LEAPING away from distractions and leaning into God’s presence. What you lay down in food, God will lift up in faith.
